Hernán Vilas' career encompasses more than 18 years in Information Technology and Engineering in the Life Science Industry (Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostics) with increasingly challenging positions in the organization from site related activities to global program and application management. He has a vast knowledge in different domains like Manufacturing Operations Management (MES/MOM), Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence (EMI), Shop Floor integration, Process Automation, Serialization and Supply Chain.
Hernán is an innovative leader, sparking ideas in the team to find new ways to solve problems keeping our users and patients in the center. He is able to identify industry trends, disruptive technologies, benchmarks and best practices, and assess their possible impact on the company strategy. Hernán successfully managed and delivered many company-wide transformational programs, driving process harmonisation and simplifying the IT landscape. One of his passions is driving digital business transformations through the use of digital technologies and business models to improve performance.
CoE Digital Operations
As Head of the CoE Digital Operations, Hernan is leading the efforts to increase the digital maturity across the Lonza operations network. Specifically for CGT, his team is running a Global Program designed to accelerate and industrialize CGT Operations. Today, 4 Manufacturing sites across 3 continents are running on a standard MES platform based on MODA-ES, supporting customer treatments in different modalities (autologous, Viral Vector and allogenic). He has also contributed on a white paper published by the BioPhorum, where he describes the challenges and digital capabilities needed in this space.
